Job Duties
- Design and characterize novel pharmaceutical formulations
- Collaborate with preclinical scientists to characterize the biopharmaceutical properties of drug candidates
- Conceive and execute laboratory studies contributing to design and understanding of drug formulations in clinical and pre-clinical development
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to advance current research portfolio
- Formulate biomaterials with drug(s) for in vitro/vivo pharmacokinetic (PK)/pharmacodynamic (PD) studies
- Prepare technical documents, including publications, patents, proposals, SOPs, technical reports and other relevant documentation
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering or other relevant discipline with at least 0-2 years of postgraduate work experience, preferentially in an industrial setting
- Strong knowledge in the characterization of the biopharmaceutical properties of small molecules
- Working knowledge of typical formulation approaches and routes of administration across multiple species
- Fundamental understanding of physicochemical properties as related to drug delivery and formulation design
- Hands-on experience in performing various methodologies for synthesizing polymers and other biomaterials
- Hands-on experience in formulating lipid/polymer-based drug delivery platforms
- Experienced in small molecule/material characterization methods (e.g., UV-vis, NMR, HPLC, GC/LC-MS, DLS, MALS, TEM)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Government contracts require the applicant to be a US Citizen (or US Permanent Resident)
